New heads or new wires?

In the coming weeks, I plan on getting an upgrade to my 5×14 Acrolite snare drum. I have to choose between new heads or wires. I was thinking of either an Aquarian Texture Coated with Power Dot over Classic Clear snare side or Puresound Custom 20 strand. Which will make a bigger improvement to the sound? And feel free to give any other suggestions.

For one thing, new heads will give a better sound depending if your existing heads are shot.

But, if you replace your snare strands, get the snare strands that have more strands on it like the Custom 20 or 24. The more strands you have, the crispier the sound. I suggest the strand but, you are the boss.

What happens to discounted drum kit lines?

Like the Mapex VX which is now VXB. What do they do with them? It seems when the VX’s went out they didnt discount them or offer much special offers.
VX’s are hardly anywhere.

They are not the same, VX’s were made with basswood and the VXB’s with basswood and Birch

the VXB is just a british version. i think it has something to do with the manufacturing process. but the sets are still the same. VXs are still around, so thats why they dont discount them.

Playing drum solo on my Mapex vx drum kit..Pt 1 Hope you enjoy : )
